Telehealth psychiatry that works the way it should
No referral required. No waiting room. Specialized psychiatric care from wherever you are.
This practice was designed for people who have already done a lot of searching — and are ready for care built around their actual needs, not an insurance company's schedule.

From first contact to ongoing care
Every patient starts the same way: a comprehensive new-patient consultation to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. From there, the plan is yours.
Book online
Choose a time through the secure online scheduler. You'll receive intake paperwork, technical setup instructions, and everything you need before your first appointment. No phone tag, no paperwork at the door.
A real evaluation
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — 90 minutes to understand your history, your symptoms, what has and hasn't worked, and what's driving what. This is not a checklist. It's a real assessment.
A plan that's yours
You'll receive a clear diagnosis and treatment plan: options explained in plain language, medication rationale if applicable, and a structure for ongoing care built around your needs — not a protocol.
Specialist-matched care, wherever you are
The biggest barrier to receiving specialized OCD and anxiety treatment is geography. There are very few psychiatrists with genuine subspecialty expertise in OCD — and most of them practice in major metropolitan areas. Telehealth removes that barrier entirely.
This practice serves patients in New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia. In every one of those states, patients have access to the same specialist-level care.
Research consistently shows that for psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy, telehealth produces outcomes equivalent to in-person care. You get a specialist matched to your condition, not whoever happens to be nearby.

Why this practice doesn't take insurance
Insurance-based psychiatry is built around volume: brief visits, restricted treatment options, and decisions reviewed by people who have never met you. This practice is built around the opposite.
- Extended appointments — never a 15-minute med check
- Medication and psychotherapy from one psychiatrist
- Direct access to your doctor between visits
- Treatment guided by clinical judgment, not insurance approval
- Continuity of care — the same psychiatrist at every appointment
Customized care packages are available on request. Balanced Psychiatry is a private-pay, out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance directly. Many patients have out-of-network benefits that reimburse part of the cost of care — we provide monthly superbills you can submit for reimbursement.
